Planning or reorganizing your office space according to Feng Shui guidelines can create a dramatic shift in your work life. This ancient Chinese art of aesthetics gives you direct influence over the peace, profit and productivity in your office.
Start making it happen with these 5 Feng Shui fixes:
Feng Shui Fix #1 - Shift Happens
Keep your office clutter free.
According to Feng Shui it's about more than just staying organized; physical clutter ties up the energy available for getting things done.
Put away your cords. Get rid of unsightly tangles and long snaking connections. Bundle them up, run them under the carpet or secure them against a wall.
Create accessible storage for open projects that you aren't currently working on.
Your desk top should have the minimal amount of items on it that are necessary to get the current task done. Get a desk with enough storage options so that anything else you'll need is easy to find and close to hand.

Start by just clearing your work space, even if you have to transfer stacks of paperwork into totes or boxes. Once your desktop is physically clear take a deep breath and feel the shift start to happen.
You may decide to call in an organization expert to create a long term solution, or you may find that you now have the peace of mind to work through it on your own. In either case, be vigilant about keeping your work space clutter free.
Feng Shui Fix #2 - Take Control
Where is your desk?
Feng Shui directs you to take energetic command of your office by putting your desk in the corner farthest from the entrance.
Make sure that you've got a solid ?mountain? of supportive energy behind you. Having the corner of the room behind you accomplishes this, but you can also create or supplement it with a sturdy, tall plant in a solid base. Other options? A large painting of a mountain, or a sculpture that feels grounded and substantial.
You should face the door when sitting at your desk, as this is where your business will symbolically ?come in?. When facing the door you are welcoming business into your life, rather than turning your back on it.
Remember, even if you have placed yourself auspiciously your efforts will be undermined if your desk is not a good energetic ?fit?.
Depending on your personality and what you want to accomplish in your office, you may want a traditional style desk, something like the Dmi executive desk to preside behind (power) or an airy, open desk with clean lines and lots of visibility (flow).
If your desk is not well suited to your working style, change it.
Feng Shui Fix #3 - Accept Help
A few intentional changes to two areas of your office will strengthen your business relationships with clients, employees and mentors.
In Feng Shui, there is a section of your office that influences your personal and business relationships (when looking in from the front door, this is the back right corner) and another that relates to your mentors (the corner immediately to the right of the front door).
Create positive changes in these areas by placing symbolic items in these sections of your office to protect, nourish and harmonize these relationships in your life.
Use colors and elements of the Earth for strength and stability.
Feng Shui Earth colors include earth tones such as beige, sand, pale yellow. You can also choose a symbol of Earth energy, such as a geode, stone pot, or sand sculpture.
Feng Shui Fix #4 - Let Cash Flow
A river of money can flow to you. All it needs is a little encouragement.
Water is traditionally used in Feng Shui to enhance wealth. Place a small fountain, aquarium, or even a print of a water scene in the section of your office that influences the flow of money (when looking in from the front door, this is the back left corner).
To foster the vitality and growth of all the blessings in your life, including your wealth and prosperity, use something made of wood in this area of your office as well.
According to Feng Shui, wood is the ancient cure for prosperity and wealth.
Feng Shui Fix #5 - Future Now
As you step into your office, you are influencing your Journey.
The area directly in front of the front door influences your destiny. It is the section of your office which energetically affects your path through life.
In a working office, you can't have the front door blocked (just as you wouldn't want your destiny blocked!)... but you can fill your future with a symbolic intention.
What will you welcome into your life each time you set foot in your office? What will you reaffirm each day when you walk out the door?
Welcome mats, a symbolic hanging above the door, or soft music that greets you as you walk in can all represent and influence future you are creating.
If this area has been empty, fill it now with intention.
