EX. 26. ACCEPTING OUR FEELINGS
In this exercise we will attempt to accept our feelings.
a. Sit opposite and look into each others' eyes as you practice the preparatory exercises 1.a. for three minutes.
b. In the first part "A" will repeat each of the following phrases, saying, "I am willing to feel and share my .......... (Referring to one of the emotions listed below) and will continue looking into "B's" eyes for 5 seconds as each observes what he or she is feeling.
This list of emotions is:
"A" = I am willing to feel and share with you my hurt. (5 sec) After 5 seconds "B" will answer him saying,
"B" = I can love and accept you with your hurt. (5 sec)
"A" = I am willing to feel and share with you my anger. (5 sec)
"B" = I can love and accept you with your anger. (5 sec)
"A" = I am willing to feel and share with you my fear. (5 sec)
"B" = I can love and accept you with your fear. (5 sec)
"A" = I am willing to feel and share with you my joy. (5 sec)
"B" = I can love and accept you with your joy. (5 sec)
"A" = I am willing to feel and share with you my sexual feelings. (5 sec)
"B" = I can love and accept you with your sexual feelings. (5 sec)
"A" = I am willing to feel and share with you my love. (5 sec)
"B" = I can love and accept you with your love. (5 sec)
b. Now you change roles and "B" declares each phrase while "A" answers after 5 seconds. Be sure to be looking in each other's eyes and observe your feelings throughout.
c. Now share discoveries, reactions and feelings.
1. Which emotions were difficult for you to accept in your self?
2. Which emotions were difficult for you to accept in the other?
