The quantity and quality of our energy flow deeply affect our
emotions, thoughts and reactions. The quality of our relationships,
productivity, creativity and health all depend upon creating a high
level of harmoniously flowing energy.

The following techniques and ways of life will aid us in building a
freer and more positive energy flow.

1. PROPER DIET: Few of us realize the powerful effect of a proper diet
not only on our physical health, but also on our emotional, mental and
spiritual states. A pure diet can create greater health, more positive
emotional states, clearer mental functioning, and increased spiritual
attunement.

2. VITAMINS: If we suspect our emotional state may also be the result
of a worn down nervous system, we might benefit from a strong
multivitamin and mineral supplement for one month.

3. FASTING: We can dramatically improve how we feel with short one-day
fasts, or a "mono-diet" in which we eat only one type of food, such as
only apples, watermelon or grapes. When fasting, some may experience an
increase of symptoms if a "healing crisis" is provoked. A beginner in
this process should be assisted by an experienced guide.

4. HERBS or FLOWER ESSENCES: Some herbs can be very calming and / or
invigorating, offering an extra boost which may give us the needed
optimism we need to make internal changes.

5. DAILY PHYSICAL EXERCISE: The body is a live machine, and like all
machines, it needs to move or it will begin to develop problems.
Exercise is essential not only for a healthy muscular, skeletal and
circulatory system, but also for a relaxed nervous system and balanced
endocrine system. This systemic harmony is necessary for emotional and
mental peace.

6. BREATHING TECHNIQUES are essential for the abundant flow of vital
energy throughout the body and mind. Bio-energy is the basis of all
physical and mental functions. Breathing exercises are one of the most
effective ways to increase our energy level and keep it steady and
harmonious so we will be less susceptible to low emotional states or
illness. We should, however, have the guidance of a person experienced
in breathing techniques before we begin.

7. DAILY DEEP RELAXATION will calm the muscles, nerves and all other
bodily systems, and thus rejuvenate the body and the mind. Deep
relaxation, in conjunction with the above-mentioned techniques,
contributes to the development of strong and healthy immune system as
well as a form of self-therapy from psychosomatic illnesses.

8. CREATIVE SELF-EXPRESSION is much more important to our physical,
emotional and spiritual health and harmony than most people imagine.
Man is a creative being. Our purpose on Earth is to create in some way.
We might create a family, a business, a farm, a painting, a piece of
music, a dance, etc. Creative self-expression is essential for our
health, harmony and happiness.

9. MEANINGFUL ACTIVITY is necessary for us to feel that our life is
worth living. If we do not see what we are doing as meaningful, useful
or helpful in some way, we lose our reason to exist, and our health and
happiness gradually deteriorate

10. MASSAGE: Shiatsu massage, polarity massage, spiritual healing,
Reiki and other such energy-oriented types of massage can be especially
effective in relaxing the nervous system and reducing negativity.

11. CLEANSING TECHNIQUES: One simple method is to increase the number
of showers or baths. Contact with water can be healing and calming. We
can also benefit by cleaning the internal body systems with enemas and
other internal cleansing techniques.

12. EMOTIONAL RELEASE: We might need to partake in a program of
emotional release under the guidance of an experienced professional,
who can help us release pent up emotions which undermine our health and
energy level.

13. SOCIAL HARMONIZATION: We need to discover and overcome any fears or
beliefs that prevent us from feeling comfortable with others.

14. SPIRITUAL ORIENTATION:
Each of us has his or her own personal
relationship with the universe. Whether or not we adhere to any
particular religion, it is important for our inner balance that we feel
and cultivate our relationship with the whole as humanity, as nature,
or as God.

15. SELF-KNOWLEDGE: We need to understand our own inner mechanisms,
needs, desires, fears, expectations, beliefs and subconscious workings
in order to free ourselves from the negative emotions, mechanisms,
which undermine our health, happiness and relationships.

16. ENLIGHTENING THE SUBCONSCIOUS: This aspect of self-improvement
usually requires an experienced professional who can help us reprogram
the subconscious with positive, more objective beliefs and perceptions
of ourselves, others and the world.

17. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE towards ourselves and others is the ultimate key
to a high and harmonious energy flow.

Ensuring Sufficient Blood Flow to the Brain ***

Why This is Important All physical and emotional states depend on a
well functioning and rejuvenated brain. The blood flow to our brain
brings oxygen, nutrients, hormones, antibodies and as it leaves removes
toxins and waste products of cell metabolism.

Sufficient blood flow to our brain is essential for
1. Good memory
2. Clarity of thought
3. Freedom from headaches
4. Overcoming psychosomatic illnesses
5. Getting free from negative emotions
6. Greater concentration
7. Hormonal Balance
8. A relaxed nervous system
9. A stronger immune system
10. More energy and vitality

Most people do not have enough clean oxygenated blood flowing into
their brains because:
1. They have low blood pressure.
2. They have tense - contracted arteries.
3. Their arteries are clogged with waste products.
4. They do not breathe deeply and completely enough.
5. They are standing or sitting many hours and blood flow down
into the legs (also creating problems such as varicose veins)
6. They hunch over and do not sit or stand straight so that the blood
can flow freely.

The following exercise, which we call the half-shoulder stand, is an
excellent way to replenish the brain with blood, oxygen and nutrients
while also cleaning up the veins of the legs.

Persons with high blood pressure of detached retina or other serious
eye problems should consult their doctor before performing it.

HALF-SHOULDER STAND

Place a mat close to the wall and lie down on your back with your
buttocks very close to the wall and your legs resting up on the wall.
If you like, you can place a large pillow underneath your buttocks so
as to create a greater incline (this will also make it more comfortable
for the lower back). Make sure that your back, shoulders and neck are
in a comfortable position. (If you have high blood pressure, you may
find this position a little difficult in the beginning as you will feel
the pressure in your head. You should check with your doctor to see if
he agrees for you to do it). Now there are four stages to this
exercise:

a) While lying in this position, inhale slowly while raising your arms
up over your head until they rest on the floor behind your head. Hold
your breath in this position for a few seconds and then lower your
hands back by your side as you exhale. This movement may be practiced
in harmony with the breath from five to ten times at the rhythm, which
you feel most comfortable. A good rhythm is to have an equal
inhalation, retention and exhalation. Thus one could inhale for a count
of three, hold for three, and exhale for three.

b) In the next stage, you take a deep inhalation and then turn your
head to the right while keeping the head in contact with the mat and
holding your breath. Hold your breath for a few seconds and then exhale
returning the head to the center again. Then take another deep
inhalation and turn your head to the left, hold a few seconds and
return it to the center exhaling. This exercise too may be practiced
with the breathing ratio inhaling for three, holding for three, and
exhaling for three. One should always breathe as slowly and deeply as
one can, without forcing the breath.

c) In the third stage we simply breathe slowly and deeply with
concentration on the inhalation and exhalation. Never force the breath,
but breathe as slowly and deeply as comfortably possible. On every
exhalation allow the neck, shoulders and eyes relax. Take from 5 to 20
such deep breaths according to your capacity. The breath is more
effective when it is rhythmic with the ratio of breathing in which the
inhalation, retention and exhalation are of equal length.

d) In the final stage we simply remain in this position with the legs
up on the wall and allow our shoulders, neck and head to relax as much
as possible. Special attention should be given to the area of the eyes
and the center of the forehead. If there is tension in the eyes, we can
place the palms over the eyes in a gentle manner and allow the peaceful
energy of the hands to flow into and relax the eyes and the forehead.
The palms can be left in this position for as long as ten minutes if we
have the inclination and time. We can also relax in this position with
or without the hands in this position for as long as we feel
comfortable.

Benefits: It is obvious that this exercise helps to bring blood to the
head, shoulders, neck and eyes. The twisting of the neck from side to
side opens up the neck and stimulates the thyroid glands. This is a
wonderful position to relax in and is as good for the legs as it is for
the head. The deep rhythmic breathing allows for greater oxygenation
and relaxation and rejuvenation of the nervous, endocrine and immune
systems as well as the mind.

It is an invaluable tool for renewing our body, energy and mind.

Common Causes of Headaches

1. One major cause of headaches is an accumulation of toxins in the
body and nervous system.

2. This problem is increased when we have constipation. A large number
of headache sufferers have constipation or problems with their kidneys.


3. This problem of auto-toxification is multiplied even further when
one is living is a polluted environment, inhaling toxic substances
which react negatively on lungs and nervous system.

4. Another major source of headaches is tension in the neck. Neck
tension can be result of too much thinking, especially worrying, or
poor posture, or the result of some specific type of work such as
typing or sewing.

5. Neck tension may also be associated with eyestrain, which may result
from a certain type of work which requires much concentration with the
eyes, or simply a growing weakness or tension in the eyes.

6. The overall tension in all the body may also contribute to this
tension in the neck, eyes, and head. This is especially true of the
tension in the spine, which tends to flow up into the neck and head.

7. A lack of sufficient blood flow and thus, nutrients and oxygen in
the cells of the brain can easily cause a headache can easily ensue.

8. Unresolved negative emotions and especially anger, worry or anxiety
can also create headaches.

9. Insomnia can also create headaches.

10. Hormonal imbalances can often generate headaches, especially during
the days preceding and during a woman?s menstrual period.

11. Other factors also contribute to headaches such as certain
hereditary tendencies or organic malfunctioning within the individual.

You Can do Much to Get Free from Headaches

The best cure is prevention. Let us look at some of the ways in which
we can free ourselves from the discomfort and burden of headaches.

1. Massage can help to relax the muscles and nerves of the neck, head
and eyes so as to increase the flow of blood and relieve the pain. This
is only a temporary solution, however, for we have not effected the
headache as its cause. We have only momentarily removed the symptom.

2. A proper diet with pure non-toxic foods will help the body to free
itself from the accumulation of toxic wastes. Some, who have a high
degree of toxicity, may want to go through a detoxification fast under
the guidance of a professional naturopath so as to clean out their
system. 3. If constipation is also a contributing factor, then one
should immediately begin to solve this problem with plenty of liquids,
fiber and exercise. One may even want to make a few purges with an
enema so as to clear out some of the toxic waste in the intestines,
preferably under the guidance of a doctor or professional health
counselor.

4. If we are absorbing large amounts of pollution and living a life of
general stress, we can protect our bodies from vitamin deficiency by
taking
vitamins B, C and E. These vitamins should be taken in as
natural form as possible, but it is seldom possible to get all one
needs through natural foods alone. Some naturopaths recommend doses of
1000 milligrams of vitamin C and 200 i.u. of vitamin E per day. Vitamin
B can be absorbed through eating brewer?s yeast according to the
recommendation on the package.

5. The tension, which accumulates in the spine, neck and head, can be
relaxed and released through
specific exercises and breathing
technique
s. (These can be learned from an experienced Yoga Instructor).
These exercises are also useful for creating an overall harmony in the
nervous and endocrine system, thus eliminating the problems of
imbalanced hormones or tension in the nervous system.

6. Breathing techniques in conjunction with deep relaxation offer us a
wonderful tool for relaxing all the muscles and nerves, and even the
emotions and the mind itself. These techniques are not only useful for
preventing headaches, but are also a wonderful first aid for an already
existing headache.

7. Another harmonizing factor is having a routine. The body and mind
function much more efficiently and peacefully when there is a certain
rhythm in our way of living. Regular hours for sleep, waking, eating
and washing are very calming to the nervous system and endocrine
system.

8. Those who have much nervous tension would benefit from regular
practice of
meditation or inner concentration, which would allow them
to release and / or transcend physical and mental tensions on a daily
basis.

9. Simultaneously we need to understand the cause of his nervous
tension and anxiety.
Self-analysis our mind?s mechanisms will help us
discover the ways in which we create unnecessary worry and tension for
ourselves.

10. So much of our worry and nervous tension is a result of our
ignorance or forgetfulness of our true spiritual nature. We lack
self-confidence and faith in Divine protection and guidance. Thus the
study of
spiritual truths handed down to us through the various
religions and spiritual philosophies can help us to see our worries and
problems in a more clear and rational perspective. Wisdom brings Peace.
Peace leads to love and harmony.

In conclusion we may say that headaches in most cases are the result of
wrong or imbalanced living and thinking. We can change our way of
living and thinking, and thus free ourselves from these unnecessary
pains. Thus our headache becomes our teacher or inner guide who reminds
us when we are moving away from the harmonious path or right living,
acting and thinking.

There are a wide variety of possible problems that one can have with
the digestive system. They may include a number of organs. Here we are
discussing a basic sluggishness, weakness or inability to digest and /
or assimilate our food nutrients. Symptoms might be bloating,
flatulence, frequent burping, discomfort after eating, pain in the
abdominal area. Ulcers and gastritis will require more specific
instructions.

SOME POSSIBLE CAUSES

1. Hereditary weaknesses in the digestive organs. This does not mean
that you are doomed to suffer. You can learn how to live wisely and not
suffer at all from such a problem. 2. Poor dietary habits which have
weakened our digestive system. 3. Nutritional deficiencies. 4.
Blockages in the spinal nerves, which regulate the functioning of the
digestive organs. 5. A lack of digestive enzymes and / or friendly
bacteria in the intestines. 5. Emotional tension, which is affects
these organs.

EFFECTIVE NATURAL SOLUTIONS

1. Eat properly and at regular times of the day, so that your digestive
system can prepare itself. a. Do not eat between meals. b. Eat only
when hungry. c. Do not eat again until the previous meal has been
digested.

2. Do not drink liquids with the meal. They dilute the digestive
juices.

3. Follow the guidelines for proper food combining, especially
concerning not eating sweet fruit with or after the meal.

4. If you have serious problems, then eat only one food at each meal
for a period of time.

5. Do not eat food cold from the refrigerator.

6. Chew slowly making your food a liquid in your mouth before
swallowing.

7. Garlic and lemon aid in the digestion of vegetables and proteins.
(Watch out if you have an active ulcer).

8. Occasionally fast or eat only one food (apples, peas, watermelon,
grapes, brown rice) for a few days. This will help your digestive
system to rest and detoxify and revitalize itself.

9. Drink hot or warm water between meals (at least 3 hours after the
meal and 15 minutes before).

10. Herb teas often help: mint, chamomile, anise, garlic.

11. Make sure that you have one or more bowel movements everyday.

12. Engage in some light activity after eating before lying down to
rest.

13. Get plenty of daily exercise and take walks in nature if at all
possible.

14. Never eat when emotionally upset. Do some breathing or relaxation
first and then eat.

15. Learn to massage your own abdomen with shiatsu or "ambuko" massage.
(Be sure that you do not have appendicitis)

16. Massage the soles of your feet where there are the reflex points
for the various digestive organs. You can use a foot roller or round
bottle to roll the bottom of your foot on in order to stimulate these
points.

17. Spiritual Healing is especially beneficial. Place your hands on
your abdominal area and send light, love and healing energy through
your hands to your organs and yourself.

18. Harmonize your emotional life by changing beliefs and attitudes
through reading, self-analysis, meditation, prayer and group work.

19. If your liver or gall bladder is sluggish you can use a castor oil
pack to stimulate your liver, gall bladder, stomach and small
intestines. (This method is described by Edgar Cayce in various books.)

20. Consult a yoga teacher for specific exercises, which relax, tonify
and rejuvenate the organs of digestion, assimilation and excretion.

21. Do deep relaxation daily and contact the peace in the center of
your being.

When we care for our body, it serves us more joyfully.
