Yoga Exercises
Y-17. SITTING ON THE ANKLES
Print

Sitting with both legs bent at the knee in front of your and with the feet drawn in toward the pelvis, put your soles together. Remain in this position feeling where the greatest tension of your legs is and try to relax your legs part by part, i.e., ankle, calf, knee, thigh, hip, etc.

If you cannot keep your back straight, support yourself with your hands behind you.

Remain this way for one to ten minutes.

Sitting on Ankles:

Once the previous posture is mastered, (that is, all of both legs rest comfortably on the floor) then it is possible to lift one's body and come forward sitting on the ankles.

Much care should be exercised not to harm the ankles.

This posture is used by celibate spiritual aspirants desiring to transform their sexual energy into spiritual energy.
