Back To Index J. 10. LETTING OUR PAINS, ILLNESSES OR PROBLEMS TAKE A FORM
The above process can also be used in dealing with other negative aspects of our lives such as pains, illnesses, or problems. The stages are approximately the same. A. After relaxing deeply, we let our pain, or illnesses or problem of any type take a form. It may be a hazy shadowy form, a specific clear form, or geometric figure, or an animal, plant, or human (stranger or known person), or it may even appear as a specific scene, event or situation from our lives, or perhaps a symbolic imaginary object, scene or event. In this way we may discover that our pain in the shoulder has something to do with our pent up emotions towards our husband, wife or mother in law. Or that an illness that we have has to do with our overeating or our overworking. Through the symbolic messages which we will get through this process we can obtain very important information concerning not only the real underlying causes of our pain, illnesses or problems, but also about their solutions. This, of course, is 100% more effective if we have someone experienced in this type of work to guide us. B. Once the form of our ÇproblemÈ has appeared in our consciousness (we will use this one word "problem" now to indicate the three possibilities mentioned until now), we begin to create a relationship with it. 1. We ask it what it wants? 2. What its needs are? 3. What it is trying to teach us? 4. What is the lesson we need to learn from this problem in order to transcend it and go on in our evolutionary process? Seeing our pains and illnesses as lessons in life is a very important part of gaining from them and surpassing them. Find out in what way you can help this symbol or form or situation which is in your mind to become something positive. In some cases you may have to accept something which until now you have found unacceptable. In others you may have to send light and love to a part of you or a part of your life, or a person which until now you have rejected. Or you may get the message that you have to make some type of change in your life style, perhaps express your emotions more freely, or involve your self in more creative self expression or change your diet. C. Now focus on the opposite positive way of perceiving this situation or of acting in this situation. Image your self thinking, feeling or acting in this way. Upon completing the relaxation, always surround the form or scene with light and love. Use the information which you gained for making changes in your way of life. |
